It's just a face...

New painting is distressing me. I've chosen a very simple post for my figure (read straight on, covered with a cloak), but I just can't seen to nail the face. I must have sketched it 10 times over the past two hours. It's time to get out the magazines to find a photo reference *sigh* and I only started this painting because I wanted to relax from the other one I'm doing.

The last of my amazon.com books arrived today. I feel very content, have reading material to last me for a very long time now. Am still reading the Swain book - and have learned half a dozen new ways to improve my manuscript. On the other hand, I'm pretty amazed at all the things I've been doing right just by following my gut feeling. :)
