Tired. Am doing 10 min cleaning. That is, I look at the clock and then tackle a specific job for 10 mins. When the 10 mins are up, I'm allowed a break. Right now I'm tidying (read shovelling) the storage room. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law will be arriving next week to stay for...I don't know...probably a week. Since mother-in-law will be taking the guest room, I am forced to make the storage room habitable for V. I've decided to shut down the phone while they are visiting, but not actually in the house. They will of course have to prepare C's grandma, so she will not start to fret and cry when nobody picks up, but it'll save me from the constantly ringing phone that is connected with these Greek visits. It'll also save me from having to speak French and from having to take down messages. :)

[livejournal.com profile] everyonesakitty asked me to journal my job experience as a button seamstress. Not terribly interesting. It was right after "gymnasium" (which is something like high-school). I'd been working for some months for my uncle in Malaysia, until I cracked under the lack of personal freedom. Came back to Denmark and started looking for jobs before starting university. Button-seamstress was the first job: Start work at 7:00, put button in machine, press foot-pedal, but new button in machine, press foot-pedal etc. stop for a 20 min lunch and then continue until 16:15. In one way, it was a stressing since the woman next in the production line was on accord and depended on me handing over the blouses fast enough so that she could earn her 100+ kr. an hour while I got a mere 61 kr. (as far as I can remember). I was also stressing because the $£()*%"%£(& needle would break constantly and I'd be worrying about getting the shard in my eye. On the other hand, sewing in buttons doesn't require a huge amount of intellect and I spent the time planning The Hunt. The factory job lasted for just 1 month, then I found another job at a cafeteria, where I worked for 75 kr. an hour until I started uni. That was a good job, my boss was cool and the regular customers were sweet and I met a lot of strange people (including Beavis and Butthead + a guy who wanted me to watch while he urinated!). Also, I can now make various burgers and hotdogs at top speed.

During my studies I worked as a cleaning lady and an English teacher.
