C enters XXL shop. Woman behind counter looks rather baffled. After a brief silence:

Woman: "You have your birthday soon?"
C: "Yes. Do I get a discount?" *wonders how she knows, but assumes he's somewhere in their customer database."
Woman: *laughs* "Sorry, no discount."
C: *goes to look at blue and white T-shirt*
Woman: "AH!"
C: "Yes?"
*woman looks very flustered*
Woman: "Ah...erhmm...well...I don't know if I should tell you..."
C: "You can tell me."
Woman: "Nooo, I'm not sure...."
C: "Really, you can tell me."
Woman: "Well, your wife was just here."
C: "Ahhhhh, well in that case you can just tell me if there's something I'm not interested in. Like this T-shirt. Am I interested in this T-shirt."
Woman: "No, you're not."
C: "Okay." *goes to look at beige 3/4 trousers*
Woman: "You're not interested in those either."
C: "Okay, I'll just get some jeans then."
Woman: "I think you'd better go home."

So yes, my present to C was one blue and white T-shirt, one pair of beige 3/4 trousers and one pair of jeans. It was of course unfortunate that he picked today of all days to go shopping for clothes, but I think it's rather funny how I picked all the things he would have picked for himself. *grin*
