Jan. 7th, 2008 12:25 pmI'm not ignoring you, I just haven't been reading LJ entries for about 2 weeks. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year's Eve. I'll try to catch up on my friends' list, but if there's something I've missed that you want me to know, please drop me line.
The reason for my absence is just brain-overload. I've spent whatever free time I had on watching TV, knitting and mindless computer games. Not very constructive or sociable.
Some of our drains are clogged and this is worrying, because it's not simply a matter of emptying out our septic tank. The toilet is working fine, but the remaining drainage is either broken or hooked up to a +50 year old system, where no-one knows the position of that old tank. Either way it's going to require digging (my poor plants) or a completely new drainage system inside the house. *sigh*
Otherwise the house-renovations are coming along nicely since I fired M, except his boss wanted like double price for the materials used and was hostile and difficult to negotiate with. S who recommended M in the first place decided to check his own material bills from M's boss and got a nasty surprise as well. Anyway, in the big scheme of things it's annoying, but a lesson learned.
The new plumbing company I've hired seem much more professional, they'll be handling hiring the electrician and the brick-layer as well and coordinate the work, and their prices seem fair.
HJ has been coming round almost every weekday, the bathroom upstairs is now prepped, and right now he and C are putting in the new main door.
The potential of the house is beginning to show. The new windows and doors should be in soon, the kitchen is arriving end of February, and, while still completely stressed out, I'm getting quite excited about it. :)

I haven't made any New Year's resolutions, but I hope 2008 will be calmer than 2007 and give me time for some writing and drawing/painting.
