This and that

I got some sleep and driving went much better yesterday despite bad conditions (snow on the small roads and heavy mist). My body has started doing things automatically, which means that all goes well until my brain starts to butt in.

C has bought new phones for the house, as the batteries on our old phones weren't doing too good any more. They new phones do not ring with different tones according to which number is being dialled to reach us (I have a private number and a business number), which is crap. They do have an internal call function, which, when you live in a house with both a basement and a first floor, is quite practical.

It's been a long time since I've had any of my "save the universe", "escape the aliens", "be a part of an actual fantasy/horror story in a Victorian/Medieval setting" or "get killed by enemy space captain that resembles Keanu Reeves" dreams - and I miss them. Last night I dreamt of man-eating sharks that lived above water and were determined to snack on me, but it wasn't quite the same. I mean, I escaped through a window. How way too easy is that? I've got to tell C not to talk about "Jaws" before going to bed.

And I'm reading "Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows" after gobbling up "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". It's nice and light reading, and I'm enjoying it. I was actually determined not to buy any more HP books after "the Order of the Phoenix", which was painfully long with an annoying, sulking, teenage Harry, but of course V gave me "the Half-Blood Price" for Christmas a few years back and once I had my library up, I realized that I couldn't live with a collection with a MIDDLE book missing.
