Guests guests...
Aug. 23rd, 2009 06:51 pmS, T and little Anja left early this morning. We said our goodbyes last night, so I slept in and got up just in time to eat breakfast, exercise Lia, pick apples, tidy a bit and bake an American apple pie for my cousin and her fiancee who came by for afternoon coffee. That is, the recipe said it was an American apple pie, but since I got it from a Danish recipe site, it might just be a Danish version of an American pie. It was different from the apple pie I usually make, though. I think the apple-mixture was better, but I find my usual dough better than this one. So in the future, I'll probably combine the two. :)
Lia loves babies. It took a while for her to understand that she shouldn't give the baby hundreds of gentle doggie kisses and that she was too big to safely lie next to a 2 month old, but in the end, she seemed content enough just to watch baby Anja while she slept - the funny part being her ears moving up and down every time the baby would twitch in her sleep. And, no need for a baby monitor when you have Lia, as she would come get us as soon as Anja started crying.
And what a little sweetheart Anja is with her wide grin and the most adorable dimples in her chubby cheeks. Also, it was lovely to be around parents who, despite being brand new to the job, had a more relaxed approach to child care than our previous guests and therefore also were more well-rested, happy and content - and who even had surplus energy to keep up with their hobbies (dad went for a 97 km bikeride while he was here!), besides taking excellent care of baby.
Not to mention that we got to hold baby, help a little with baby, do silly make-baby smile noises and grimaces, and generally enjoy the rare treat of having a baby in the house without having to be responsible for it. Perfect! *grin*
