Sep. 14th, 2005 11:11 amWoke up at 7:00 with a post-injection headache. I tried to sleep it off, which sometimes works, but today it was a no-go. So it's ten past eleven and I'm still pottering around in my dressing gown, I still have 5 hours to get into a resemblance of humanity and tidy up a bit before P. arrives. Perhaps I'll take the day off when/if the panadols start to work.
I haven't been writing for weeks (months?), but I have been thinking about the Hunt (if only I could hook up the computer directly to my brain). My first draft was really nothing but scenes I thought were cool. There was a red thread through them, but it was frail and thin. Second draft took care of all the "suddenlys" and -ly adverbs. Third draft revealed much underlying plot, which I hadn't been aware of, I also tried to put in more characterization. Fourth draft was the end for Hawk, who was brutally snipped out, along with a couple of scenes. Fifth draft, which I'm at now, spells the end for Eric and even more snipping. I've been spreading myself too thin regarding my characters, scenes and plot, and the result is a rather tasteless blah. When starting my next book, I'll do my best not to be an organic writer!
