Phone sales

In Denmark most telephone- and door sales are illegal. In Switzerland they are not. This means that we have a steady stream of salemen/women. Some are quite pleasant and polite. I usually listen and then say something like: "Thank you, but I'm not interested in your product." OR "Thank you, but I already have/use your product." Now this is where the nice, polite salesmen give up and leave. Others, are much more STUBBORN. Two weeks ago a woman called to sell books, cd's and dvd's. Speaking of phone calls once I got a really funny one in Demark. It was from an elderly lady: "Is this the XXXX restaurant?"

Me: "No, I'm sorry this is a private number."
 
Her: "Oh, but what number do they have then?"

Duh?

Cats are sleeping.

 

Small artistic rant

This goes for both writing and painting. Someone posts a piece for review. When told what needs to be worked with this person gets all defensive and says: "But I meant it to be like that! This is not...blablabla. This is....blablabla. The purpose of this piece was....blablabla...therefore blablabla."

My take: If you have to explain your piece to each and every person that sees it; then you haven't achieved what you were aiming for. Do not post in a workshop if you don't want help or if you don't want to listen to other people's opinion.

*note I am not talking about any specific person here. Just a phenomenon that I see a lot.
