Oct. 31st, 2005 08:15 amIt's been lovely weather all weekend, but we stayed indoors because of kitten. Something significantly bigger than a sparrow has been at one of the bird food nets. The net is torn and half the nuts inside gobbled up. It's fun to watch the nets (an opinion shared by all three kitties). I saw one Great Tit (yeah, yeah save your snickers) use his tiny claw much like a parrot to pull the net closer. I've been keeping track of the birds I've seen on the terrace this summer:
Great Tit
Crested Tit
House Sparrow
Greenfinch
Nuthatch
Red-throated Trush (Took me a long time to pin this one down, as I'd never seen it before. Apparently it's natural habitat is south-eastern Siberia and it is an infrequent guests in Switzerland)
From the terrace, but not counting as they weren't on the terrace: blackbird, common buzzard, grey heron, crow, raven (I think, left my binoculars in Denmark).
