Thank you for all who commented on my whiny rant yesterday. You are lovely, lovely people and even though I've never met anyone of you face to face, I consider you true friends.

Apart from printing out invoices, packing an order, and doing a bit of laundry, I had a quiet day yesterday, and today C not only took over Lia's morning play-session, so I could sleep a bit longer, he also took the day off and drove us all to the beach where we relaxed in the sand and played in the icy-cold North Sea. The dips in cold water made the heat tolerable for Lia and she seemed more comfortable than she does at home. And our little 4 month old puppy was on her best behaviour and a sheer joy to have along on the excursion. I fell asleep in the car and promptly zonked out on the couch as soon as we were home again. I'm still dead-tired and exhausted, but my mood is much better. Tomorrow I'll try to make a schedule and plan my day better, leaving in time for breaks and hopefully I will be less stressed.

The North Sea is a fickle lady and takes lives every year - usually tourists, usually children or parents who swim out to rescue their children. Locals know to treat the sea with respect and what to do if they're dragged out by the undercurrent. As we arrived, there had been an alarm call and ambulances, police and search and rescue teams were out and about, but it seemed that either the alarm was a prank, false alarm or whoever called had directed the rescue team to the wrong location, because the police were unable to find the woman who'd placed the call and the rescue team came back empty handed.

I read this in the Dear Abby column on yahoo (reference link)

DEAR ABBY: I was invited to an elegant wedding, and by the time dinner was served, I was stuffed because I pigged out on the hors d'oeuvres. At the end of dinner, I asked for a doggy bag to take home my huge untouched filet mignon. Was this a faux pas? -- HATES TO BE WASTEFUL, WABAN, MASS.

DEAR HATES TO BE WASTEFUL: Absolutely not. It's done all the time, and you have done nothing for which you have to apologize. However, let this be a lesson to you. Next time, save room for the main course.

Let's just say that in Europe or at least in the European countries I'm familiar with this would have been a HUGE faux pas.
