1. I used to be afraid of dogs

I remember reading a book where the character poked her fingers into her cheeks every day in hopes of creating dimples.

I'm beginning to think your mom saw too many of those National Geographic specials involving people who wear 50 necklaces to stretch their necks, hang heavy hoops in their ears and get earlobes to their shoulders, and wear big disks in their mouths so that their lips stretch way out.

Actually the nose-pulling is a common Chinese belief, there are many more of these...some more far-fetched than others.
