C has had a stiff neck all weekend. Last night he was in agony and we were up half the night. After painkillers, muscle ointment, a small massage and a hotwater bottle, the pain started lessening to a more tolerable level...and then what does he do? He drives to work! *shakes head*
-----------------------------------------------

We watched lots of movies this weekend, plus I read some and I'm now behind my commission schedule. I have to admit that the lazy weekend was worth it. We saw Corpse Bride - sweet, but somehow not as good as I had expected.

Flightplan - usual action stuff. Okay, but not something I'm going to remember in a couple of weeks.

Broken Flowers - when I realised it was directed by Jim Jarmusch, I almost left the room. I saw Coffee and Cigarettes in the movies some years ago and let's just say I was not impressed. If the foundation is not solid, then you can try and be as intellectual as you want to, but all I see is pretentious fluff - I know Jarmusch has good reviews on IMDB and yes, I found the characters were excellent, the symbolism was good (it's not because I don't catch on to these), but a story needs more than that. I felt the same way about Catcher in the Rye, so I suppose I'm just one of these people that when a story doesn't work or doesn't hold enough meat for me you can dress it up as much as you want to and it's still not going to work.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - I loved this one, but then I love these black humour, clever, witty movies like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. And of course the references to LOTR were hilarious.

Today started well. I managed to get a couple of hours sleep after C went to work, so I'm sort of functional. :)
