During the weekend, we took the Z4 and drove to Como* with some friends who drove a Z1. We went over Splügen mountain, driving sporty with the top down. It was COLD, so I was wrapped up like a mummy in a thick jacket and plaid, and with the seat-heating on - the sacrifices one must make for the boys to be happy. We drove on narrow mountain roads with twists and turns, and darkened tunnels - darkened tunnels with goats in them. Oblivious to traffic goats. You've got to love Italy.

We stayed in an old, rustic hotel a bit south of Melaggio together with a few bus-fulls of British senior citizens, had lunch in Como and was stuck there for ages because of the bicycle race - C saw Bjarne Riis, who is from my hometown. I was too lazy to get out of the car - never been much interested in bicycle races, Bjarne Riis or not.

Sunday we took the ferry to Bellagio, which is a picturesque little town with narrow, cobbled roads and dozens of jewellery shops, we ordered what turned out to be the best Latte Macchiato I've ever had, and sat with our back to the wall Italian style to watch people go by. At the water front in Bellagio, there was this dilapidated villa, which reeked of a high class past and stories untold. The urge to go exploring through the deserted rooms was overwhelming. From Bellagio, we drove south around Lake Como and was once again stuck in Como because of the bicycle race - this time at least, they offered an alternate route, which was packed with cars, honking cars, cars going wrong way through the round-abouts because it was faster.

We went home by a different route and stopped for lunch right before the Lugano border. From the restaurant there was a stunning view over Lake Piano - a nature reservation area. Sheer, dreamlike fantasy, like an Alan Lee watercolour only better. I would like to go back in 14 days - 3 weeks when the trees will be fully clad in autumn hues and take some photos. This time round, we'd forgotten the camera, so I'm hoping K who took loads of pictures will be willing to share.

*I did not see George Clooney, so there is sadly nothing to impress Miss Snark with.

Yesterday we received four boxes of glass beads from China, I haven't had the chance to study them properly, but what I've seen so far looks good. And speaking of glass, C and I are going to take a glass-fusing course in November.

Aaaand I weighed myself this morning. Our scale is terribly inaccurate, but I just might be the lightest in years. It seems like my body has started regulating its own weight, some months before I started watching what I ate, I would feel nauseous just thinking of McDonald's and deep-fat fried chicken, this Friday I was sick to my stomach after eating cheese fondue. Ugh! Never again! That's not to say I only eat healthy stuff, I had pizzas and fior de latte ice-cream in Italy...ohh the yummy. I love fior de latte, but sadly I've only ever found it in Italy.

Nice trip! I sympathize on the top down-freezing issue. :)
