Oct. 28th, 2006 01:30 pmSlept late and then got up to shorten trousers. This was surprisingly hassle-free, dare I hope that the sewing machines of the world unite against May movement is over?
We're seriously considering getting a play-mate* for Jonesy. I'm not keen on having three cats in my home, so we've been putting it off, thinking that our future puppy would fulfill the void, but it will be minimum 6 months, and probably much longer than that, before we can get a puppy and Jonesy is driving us all, especially Felix, bonkers during his play periods. Felix is fond of Jonesy, and they'll play and cuddle together, but Jonesy also likes to wrestle and pounce, which was never Felix's thing. Oh Felix likes to pounce all right, but not to be pounced upon, and wrestling is a definite no-no. Also, it doesn't help matters that Jonesy is double as heavy as Felix and ten years younger.
It's tempting to take a kitten from the shelter, but Jonesy is too boisterous and big for an average cat**, thus we are looking into Maine Coons again. A red one this time, since my philosophy is that every home should have a red cat. Although he's not been picked yet, we already have the name. This took less than two minutes. Considering how it took us months to agree on Jonesy's name, this is nothing short of a miracle. The new kitty's name will be Cayenne.

*No Miq, don't even think about it!
**When Jonesy was looked after at the shelter, he was delivered into a room filled with kittens, his own age, only he was much bigger than them. We warned the shelter people that he was loving, but rough, but they assured us this wouldn't be a problem. When we picked him up, Jonesy was alone with two big, self-confident older cats. No kittens in sight.
