- I got taken aside and held up in the passport control in Schiphol airport because my passport looked "bad quality".
- The estate agent for the farm house assured us that the roof does not need changing (although the builder's report said it did) - and not only that, he also insisted that it was completely harmless to take down the asbestos roof ourself, because "lots of people have worked with asbestos and never gotten sick of it".
- Another estate agent, C, and I got lost on one property. We were virtually trekking through wilderness, but C saved us, by pinpointing our location using the noise from the road to orient himself. When we got back to the car, I noticed my pants were covered in ticks. *hates ticks*
- All the farm cats we saw were grey.
- 9 out of 10 farm dogs in Denmark are apparently NOT guard dogs, unless pathetically begging for cuddles and showing one's tummy is a sneaky way of tricking the strangers.
- According to the seller of one of the houses the rental price for farmland is 4000 - 5000 Danish kroners per hectar OR (as he was paid) 2500 kr. per hectar plus two pigs and half a cow.
- While we were there, Bjarne Riis admitted to being doped when he won Tour de France. I wondered what would happen with his plaque of honor embedded in the town centre of Herning. That was quickly answered when we went to dinner and saw a couple of drunkards scribble profanities all over the thing.
- Saw a 12 week old Yorkshire terrier. Extremely adorable, but honestly it's so tiny, is it even a dog?

A specially trained crew have to be brought in wearing resperators and suited up to have every part of them covered with contamination suits. Oh, but perhaps this is my mistake? Perhaps the realator was offering to do it for you himself, personally, at no charge since he seems to think it is safe to work with?

Date: 2007-06-05 07:22 am (UTC)And yeah, it's the same thing in Denmark with asbestos, you need specialists to take it down.
The sales price do seem to take into consideration that the house needs a new roof, plus other repairs.
