This will be my last post from Switzerland. Our internet connection will be cut off tomorrow along with the TV. The transportation company wanted an inventory list by today, Monday, so most of our stuff is packed up already and we still have a little over a week before we head north. This could mean that without work and internet distractions, I might get some writing done. Art is a no-go, because all my art materials have been packed down, labelled with big read fragile stickers.

I am surprisingly a little sad to leave. Somehow I wished I had gotten more out of my stay here, more friends, more memories. While we will be leaving some wonderful people behind, I think it is no secret that I haven't made any friends of my own here. The Swiss in this part of Switzerland are just not very open toward foreigners. At first I thought it was perhaps just me - that the cultural difference was a problem (read "my Danish blunt self is offensive"), or the language issue, or the fact that I was working from home, but the closedness and reservedness has unfortunately been confirmed by other foreigners here and even by C's Swiss friends. However, Switzerland is a breathtakingly beautiful country, mists, moutains, waterfalls, valleys, hills, rivers, lakes - and it's charming with its old city-centres and churches. We'll definitely be coming back to visit friends and family, and to stuff ourselves with Italian and Swiss hams, goat- and sheep's cheese.

And since we are at the photos. [livejournal.com profile] mnfaure couldn't imagine our appartment all packed up and asked to see boxes, so boxes she shall have:

the brown blob is Felix dozing in the sun

nosy Murphy in the corridor

By the way last night we celebrated the packing of said boxes, by sharing a bottle of white wine from Sancerre - wonder where we got that one from? ;)

As many of you know, these past 5 years have been really hard, and I'm hoping moving to Denmark will be a fresh start. So here's to new beginnings. To seize the day - to strive for more, but to be content with what we have.

And with that, I'll see you in Denmark!

Bon voyage. How sad such a beautiful place houses a people with such cold hearts. I went through once and was surprised at how stiff the people were but then I suppose I was a nasty foreigner.

I rather think you will have a lot more fun in Denmark. Good luck in trying to keep the cats in when they see all that wonderful freedom.

*nods* I always feel a bit guilty when I mention the mentality thing, so it's always reassuring to find that others have noticed it too.

Heh...the kitties will probably have to settle with controlled outdoor access, but they are definitely going to have the possibility of going in and out.

hahahaha...I don't think a banan box will be that comfortable.

Yeah, we really need to do the tea and muffin thing! You're welcome anytime and I'll be sure to let you know when I go to Switzerland.

*grin*

I saw there were two posts from you and when I read the "their", I was preeeeetty sure what that second post was about. And J on the phone is an excuse for not being online when posting, I guess. I was going to chide you with that one.

PS. Leaving you to stand out in the rain and the wind? I wouldn't dare, not so much out of politeness, but for sheer fear of mortal life issues.

PPS. Why is it we seem to be moving farther and farther away from each other? In fact, you started it! *stares suspiciously at Miq*
