Jan. 11th, 2008 01:47 amBad journalism annoys me on so many levels. And plain lack-of-general-knowledge journalism will make me start twitching. I mean...aren't journalists as a whole supposed to be educated? Aren't they supposed to enlighten their readers? Don't they have a responsibility? Isn't check your facts and sources a part of the journalistic education?
Here's what I've stumbled over recently in German, Danish and US online newspapers:
- Stockholm, Norway.
- Islamabad, India
- An adult French Bulldog being labelled as a Pit Bull puppy.
And what's with the women's magazines? I've found just one that has a fair quantity of semi-intelligent content - and yet it still has the standard horoscope page, the clair-voyant, the palm-reader and what have you. Not to mention the short-stories, head-hopping POV, pointless plots and just generally bad writing. C says I'm probably being difficult, but I refuse to believe that the average female population's main interest is how style your hair in 10 different ways, how to sex up your man in 10 different ways, how famous people decorate their living rooms...and how on EARTH did Britney Spears' latest escapade make it into a Danish news programme on television? How can something like this be given such a high priority?
Sometimes I feel the biggest threat to the world is sheer ignorance.

Date: 2008-01-11 01:41 am (UTC)I've seen those women's magazines while waiting in line at the grocery checkout. The cover articles are the same on each cover, my favorite being the How to Please your Man in Bed.
Dudes! Men aren't that complicated, if you are willing and naked they're happy. ;-) Now some men could benefit from a few articles on how to please your woman in bed since women can be a little more complicated.
I wont even touch on the frequently ugly fashions that are presented as the must haves of the season. (but I'm not in the target age group anymore so....)
