Lia did not appreciate the "pup sleeps in an open box next to the bed" idea. In fact, she thought it a horrendous experience, sheer torture of little pups, so I spent the night on the couch, sleeping light, so that I could hear when she had to go out (2 am, and 4 am). C took over the couch duty at 4:30 and I got 5 hours of sleep in the bedroom.

Tonight I've sectioned in part of the bedroom next to my bed, so hopefully she'll take to that.

Otherwise we're getting to know her and the number of pee accidents in the house have been steadily diminishing as we learn to read her body language better.  Our successrate is so far approx. 4 accidents out of 14 pees and 0 accidents our of 3 poops. Not too bad for the first 24 hours, I think.

I'll be posting some pics later, but will as promised limit the Lia entries. The dog posts will be on [livejournal.com profile] lia_dogblog once I'm more awake to function on more than just auto-pilot. I'm still a firm believer of these dog-handling methods, but they are hard on the handler the first weeks - good for bonding, though. Lia is bonding, and even the few hours difference in C's puppy-sitting times compared to mine is already showing with her being more attached to me than to C - to the point where we've been forced to give C more puppy time. Good for me, though. I can post this and then go to bed! :D

Fabulous! That's a great success rate, much better than my mom was able to manage with either of her Pomeranians. :)

Thank you. :)

It comes at a price, though: Constant supervision during all her waking moments. C and I are doing shifts.

Wow. Having a puppy is almost like having a baby. :D

hehehe...yeah, it's apparently not that different, apart from the lack of diapers and the sharp little teeth. Plus puppies are quite mobile. :)
