Things you don't want to find out at 22:30 at night:

- That the kitchen drainage has a leak and the pantry in the basement with all the stuff stacked inside is flooded - and has been for quite a while, judging by the mold- and water damage.

Finished hauling and throwing out the most important stuff at 23:30, by midnight I'd mopped up about 10 litres of water from the floor. 00:30, take puppy out for night time pee. 1:00 puppy sleeps, we sleep. 03:45 puppy needs to go pee. 05:00, puppy needs to go pee (again!) and is WIDE AWAKE and WILD! 05:45 puppy sleeps, I sleep. 06:30 puppy WIDE AWAKE! I stay up to call the plumber as soon as they open at 07:00, he arrives 20 minutes later, just as I'm about to stagger to bed again. It's now 08:25, he still hasn't left and I just want to sleeeeeep.

heh...no, everything can be replaced. And since the plumber made the drain connection in the first place, they will cover the damage.
