...Lia might just be my last pet. Today started out well enough, but just turned into a pet-nightmare. Murp is sick, earlier today I washed his poopy butt, cleaned the floor from where he'd pooped over the cat litter box, cleaned the cat litter.
After returning home from puppy class with Lia the following happens within some 30 minutes:
Lia bites through a bag of cat sand.
I tape the hole shut, scoop up cat sand from carpet and vacuum.
Lia gets so excited by the vacuum cleaner that she pees on the floor.
I soak up the pee with kitchen roll and put potato starch on the wet spot to get the last bit of pee out of the carpet.
Lia steps in potato starch and trails it all over the kitchen floor.
I wipe and vacuum again.
Murph vomits, I wipe and clean.
I sit down to write a post about how I'm not getting any more pets, when C comes in to tell me there are 5-6 poop spots from Murph on the new carpet upstairs, so now I'm off to clean - again.
I'm getting too old for this. I love my pets to bits, but sometimes I envy the people with spotless homes, that don't have to take the dog out to pee, that don't have to empty the cat litter box, that can pack up and leave for vacation at a moments notice and not have to arrange for someone to come look after all the animals.

(Still more expensive to have kids than a dog, I know. :) )
