I took half a day off and wrote +1K (!) words on a short story. Preliminary title is "Zen of a House Cat", but I'm not sure I like it.

This evening we loaded Lia into the car and went to visit Corinne and Seth*: Visits to their place is great socialization for the dog. There's another older dog, who won't take any puppy-nonsense, horses, children, and today a tiiiny, plump little grey ball of a kitten, who looked like a pom-pom and strutted around the stables with her fat little tail in the air, sounding like an old tractor everytime she got a cuddle. She was completely unafraid of the dogs, who in theory could gobble her up in one small mouthful. Lia was about 20 times bigger than the kitten, but instinctively knew that she had to be careful and gentle with the little one and I'm very proud of my usually over-boisterous teen-dog.

Speaking of kittens, our not-that-small Maine Coon kitten will be moving in on Tuesday, 14 1/2 weeks old. We still haven't found a name, though.

Yay, May is writing again. And going to get the new kitty. When are you going to post a picture of him/her? Will it have an Irish sounding name, like Murphy? Seamus might fit a boy, but there are a host of good names. It depends what fits this particular kitten.

We were originally aiming for an Irish sounding name, but for some reason we're now thinking of either "Orlando" or "Toulouse".

Woot for words! I don't think it matters much if you don't like the story just yet. This is your first draft, after a verrrrry long writing hiatus, I might add. Cut yourself some slack. :P Words can only be fixed after they are on the page.
