It is war - and I will win!
We left our seeds out in the shed and not in the basement over the winter, so I'm doing seedling tests to see if they're still good. Salad seeds have been placed in the stables, where Lilith will watch out for them. Other seeds will be placed on the window sills inside.
Otherwise, I'm hopelessly behind as usual. The house is not sparkly, but it's in a reasonable state of clean, but work, taxes, writing, reviewing and drawing? Ugh. Plus my stock room looks like a bomb site.
I'm not fretting and not going above my 40-45 hour work week, though. Just getting the most urgent stuff done and then slowly working on the rest. According to my calculations, I'll then have caught up sometime in 2010. :p
Oh and C bought me a car! A Peugeot 206 1,1 from 2005, I think. We'll be picking it up in a week or so. I have to admit I'm a bit nervous about that. It'll be my first drive of that length (+2 hours), the first time driving in this car, and the first time driving alone, although the latter might be a relief, because although he tries, C is not a good passenger for a new driver.

Date: 2009-03-30 03:20 pm (UTC)Oh yeah! May has wheels! I hope it has a radio because it helps when driving alone for the first while. There is something terribly lonely about driving by oneself and a radio is a bonus. And I am not surprised about C's backseat driving. R is still horrendous despite the very minor factoid that I hold an advanced drivers safety cert I needed to operate the Town fleet vehicles. Despite the very minor factoid that I can jump in any type of truck, whether manual or automatic and drive it. Despite the very minor factoid that I can drive bobcats, zambonies and loaders and he can't. Even the girls don't like driving with him as a passenger. This is a cross every married woman, or father's daughter has to bear. Get round it by insisting he drive when you are going together anywhere. It doesn't get better with time, I assure you of that. C will never be a good passenger, any more than R is.
Enjoy your new car and your new freedom by yourself. It is a beyond liberating experience.
Hugs,
Elizabeth.

Date: 2009-03-30 04:40 pm (UTC)So it's a male thing, eh? And here I was hoping C's backseat driving would get better. :p
We have Round Up here too. Many years ago my neighbour mistook all my summerflower seedlings for weeds and kindly sprayed them all for me. Cleanest patch of soil I ever had, so it's effective for sure.
I'm trying to go organic for the vegetable garden, though, so I'm going to try the other, labour-filled options first (starving the roots by constant weeding, mowing, planting competitive plants, covering with black plastic etc.), but yeah, Round Up is so much easier to use. :)
