Bending the rules

I left an open bag of liquorice sweets (Tyrkisk Peber) unsupervised on the kichen table. I come back to find the bag has been pushed along the table and 11 sweets have fallen out onto the table cloth. The sweets are wet!
May: Lia? What happened here?
Lia: *innocent* What do you mean?
May: The liquorice.
Lia: They are nasty.
May: Did you have to lick ALL of them?
Lia: Yup.
May: What is the rule about taking things from the table?
Lia: Liquorice never left the table!
