Hmmm...let me see. It probably took me 20 minutes to pluck the strawberries, then another 15 minutes to wash and cut them. 2 minutes to layer with sugar. 10 minutes to disinfect the jars.
Then the whole thing needs to rest for an hour (during which I napped and watched TV), boil for 5-10 minutes at low heat, add thickening agent (if wanted) and boil for another 3 minutes, before filling into the jars, which took another 10 mins.
That looks very good. It will also taste a million times better than anything you could ever buy. The bought stuffs are riddled with preservatives, colorings, flavorings and just about anything else you don't want to ingest.
If you get tired of jam making, you could always get some kilner jars and bottle stuff for pie fillings. Strawberry and rhubarb is good, as is strawberry and apple.
*nods* I used a bit of preservatives to clean the jars after I'd boiled them, but haven't added anything in the jam itself, so it's just strawberry, sugar and a bit of thickening agent without preservatives.

We haven't tasted it yet, though. :)
