Jam again.

I made jam again yesterday. This time strawberry-rhubarb jam with vanilla. It looked a bit odd as I was cooking it, so I had mentally prepared myself for total fail and hours of wasted work, but it turned out really tasty. :)

I like making jam. It's so worth the effort and home-made jam tastes better than store bought, plus it's not filled with preservatives. The only problem with jam making is that its time consuming and tends to take up 40-50% of my daily energy ration.

Alas, today the real world calls. I need to work, finish chapter 6 of Elpida, do housework, order jewellery material and start planning/making jewellery and what beads to take for next week's Wednesday's Market.

Rhubarb and strawberry is a great mixture. You could also try a mixed berry jam. I am fairly certain you have current bushes and those berries will go nicely with the strawberries. Also add raspberries if you have them.

It is also worth making blackcurrent jam. This is really useful in winter, around January, when your immune system needs a boost, as it is crammed with vitamin C.

I wish you would finish chapter 6. I am waiting to read more of your book.

You're right we have black- and redcurrant bushes, and also a gooseberry bush. They're not quite ripe yet, though.

I miss having raspberries. We have them and blackberries planned for when we have shelter for them.

Managed to finish chapter 6. I'll try to post chapter 3 and 4 this weekend as soon as I've caught up with return reviews.
