Jul. 12th, 2004 01:44 pmI followed ALL the advise given in relation to my nightmare and am feeling much better now.
pjthompson's Jung related theory was very comforting. I might not be an evil person after all. :)
I still need to unpack the last boxes and sort some stuff, but I can see the unpacking progress now. The move itself went really fast. We had hired a moving company with a lift and four of C's friend were helping out. I believe it took just about 2-3 hours all in all. Of course it took the guys another 2 1/2 hours to assemble the grill for lunch...aehmmm
After the smooth move, Murphy's Law took over. Cable connection wasn't working, cable plug wasn't working, new furniture had the wrong colour and has to be returned, moving company made a wrong calculation and sent us a HUGE bill - everything has been fixed and settled, though. I'm just waiting for IKEA to bring the right coloured furniture and take back the wrong coloured.
Well, must pack today's orders and tidy up some more before C comes home.
PS. This move has really hit home how different C and I are.
We put together a closet where we had to drill in the handles. I carefully measured where the handles should be, marked the spot with a pencil, took a step back and realized that the doors weren't the same height:
"This is crooked," I say.
"Want me to fix it?" C answers.
"Yes, please."
He then brings over the DRILL and is about to drill one of the holes lower than the marked spot. Needless to say that he's not measuring anything.
"NO!" I yell, "NOT like THAT!"
He looks up. "Then how?"
"Correct the doors."
He does, but it's clear that he would have preferred to just have moved the handle. He mutters something about Monica from "Friends".
Afterward, I'm really pleased with the result and say, "Aren't you happy that we did it correctly?"
"Nope."
