Monday...

...and my mother called again. It has to be passive-aggressiveness of some kind. What on EARTH is wrong with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday? The only thing that makes Monday stand out is me specifically asking her not to call on Mondays, because I'm busy catching up with work after the weekend.

My plan is to start asking her not to call on a Tuesday. That should do the trick, I hope.

It sounds like she misunderstood you and thinks monday is the only day she's allowed to call... Switching it to tuesday should work nicely then. :)

Heh...I think she deliberately misunderstands me or else she somehow manages to turn everything around. Like "C's likes lemon trees, but we've looked into them and decided not to get one because the require too much work and care" - and she plants lemon trees for us.

or "Because we have so much land, we want just hardy plants that do not need any special care" - and she's trying to give me dozens of outdoor plants, planted in pots, that needs to be taken in every time is blows and in winter, because they cannot take minus temperatures.

If the reverse psychology to get her to phone on tuesdays instead works, you could try it on the garden as well. Tell her you want a gardening challenge, something that takes oodles of work and has to be babysat 24-7. Then you'll get a hundred ordinary apple trees. :)
