Every year when NaNo comes around, I'm tempted to join, but who am I kidding? 750 words a day, moi? It's about as unlikely to happen as hell freezing over.

I'll do my own little trial NaNo, though. Low goals, but after all anything would be better than my current status of next-to-no-writing.

It's all about making new habits. New habits. Isn't it something with 21 days?

750 words per day? Doesn't add up to 50k. Try 1667 words per day. :)

LOL!

The trick is to forget about quality and just write whatever pops into your head. You've got all the time in the world afterwards to polish and edit and rewrite.

Yeah, unfortunately that technique no longer works for me. I much prefer to skip the total crap draft and start with just the crap draft. Saves me a lot of time overall. :)

I do that every other time of the year too. But in November I'm busy, so I do it properly. :) It works to keep the mind going when I don't know what happens next or how to put it. I'm not completely 100% planned in advance. I've got a number of general plotline ideas written down for this particular one that I'm starting tomorrow (Tomorrow! Yay!!!) and I realised yesterday on the train how the intro should be. Other than that I'm flying by the seat of my pants. If I get stuck I just start describing the surroundings or some such, just to keep words flowing even if the plot isn't. Usually eventually I'll discover that we've moved on at some point during.

Interesting technique, I might try it out. My first drafts are almost always lacking setting. :)
