...remember how they did not put C in the correct class according to his Danish skill level?

Now they sent us a bill for 1000 kr., which is approx. 130 EUR. Language school is free, but because C is an EU citizen, he as to pay an administrative fee of 500 kr. every time he levels up. He already paid 500 kr. on the first day, so they are actually charging him 1500 kr. for 2 1/2 months of tuition, because he went from level 1 - 3 in those 2 1/2 months.

Of course the only reason why he went from level 1-3 is that they should have put him in level 3 from the very first day. He spent maybe 5 hours in level 1, until he managed to convince them he didn't belong there, some weeks in level 2 although the teacher already on the first day said that he belonged in level 3, but that he might as well wait for the upcoming level 2-3 test, which then kept getting postphoned.

So yesterday, he went to the administration office and calmly announced that he refused to pay for their mistake.

After that he left in protest because he did not want to listen to the local politicians talk about Gullestrup - Gullestrup is an area near Herning that has a high percentage of foreigners with integration problems. C and I are puzzled as to why the politicians chose to address the language school, as the vast majority of the students there do not live in Gullestrup, do not have integration problems, are employed/studying and self-supporting and mostly come from completely different cultures than those in Gullestrup.

I find it rude and condescending, you just can't lump all non-Danes together in one big uniform bundle like that. In my opinion, they'd achive much more by going to Gullestrup and trying to get into a dialogue with the people there.

C is more diplomatic, but he did point all of this out to his teacher, hoping she'd maybe shed some light on what the politicians hoped to achieve, but she couldn't explain why they were there either.

Good luck with all that. And I find it hard to understand what is taught sometimes in the schools here also.
