Kafka - The Process.
Nov. 12th, 2009 10:36 amTuesday:
C receives a transport document from the Copenhagen Customs. Scribbled on the follow note in blue ball point pen right below the section with information about the full payment amount is an account number.
He does think it's strange, because as a registered company, one normally doesn't pay the VAT upon receiving the goods, but he pays the full amount (customs fees, plus VAT) to the account number, listing his reference number as a message to the receiver.
Wednesday:
C receives the normal bill, which is of course only for the customs fees.
Thursday:
I try to figure out what's happened with the money he transferred to the account number scribbled on the page received from the Copenhagen Customs.
First call goes to the Herning Customs worker who sent out the correct bill to hear if they have received the money and if they will transfer back the VAT part of the payment. She is unable to help me, but suggest I call the Herning Customer Center.
Herning Customer Center: Put on hold *waiiiiiiiiiiiiit*. Herning Customer Center is unable to help me, but redirects me to the VAT-Payment Center in Herning.
Herning VAT-Payment Center: Put on hold *waiiiiiiiiit*. Herning VAT-Payment Center is unable to help me, but redirects me to the Main Payment Center.
Main Payment Center: Put on hold. *waiiiiiiiiit*. Main Payment Center is unable to help me, but redirects me to Ballerup Payment Center.
Ballerup Payment Center: Put on hold. *waiiiiiiiit*. The woman at Ballerup Payment Center is not as friendly as the others and quite abrupt, but YAY she is able to help me, because the account number scribbled on the Copenhagen Customs paper was theirs, so she'll transfer the whole amount back to C and we can then pay the correct bill, which has a completely different account number, which explains why no-one seems to be able to figure out just where they money had gone to.
I've been on the phone for over a bloody hour and had to repeat myself 5 times, explaining the problem to each new person I spoke to. Now I would just love to get my hands on that IDIOT from the Copenhagen Customs who took out his blue ballpoint pen and created all this mess. Oh...and remember the big hassle with my import last summer? Yes, that was also Copenhagen Customs messing up.
